Proof that old styles of horse training are still around
A story about Australian Brumbies was posted in a newspaper celebrating the soon to be six generations of Brumby Runners. The horses may be wild and this method may be five generations old but it is very stressful for the horse and places the horse in jeopardy of injury. In this position, the horse is extremely vulnerable to the likelihood of being flipped over backwards. Not all old ways of horsemanship / horse training are bad for the horse but there certainly is no need for this out-dated style of 'breaking'. One can only hope that the sixth generation will find the new updated horse training methods that 'start' a horse by building trust and response rather than 'breaking' that causes mistrust and reaction.
